As the Seattle Pride Parade nears, I get more and more aggravated thinking about it. The majority of the parade is filled with companies and corporations, using the parade as advertising space. As a way to make them seem queer friendly. But the fact of the matter is that SO many of these companies don’t give a shit about the queer community.
So, let’s take a look at two of the main sponsors who are plastering the parade with advertising
These, which are two of the biggest “sponsors” of the pride parade, are also some of the main funders of blatantly anti-queer movements. There is no disclaimer on any of the fliers about this, there is no information about how fucked up it is that both of these companies get a free pass into the queer community to make themselves look good.
Not to mention how many of the sponsors who have a presence at the pride parade are companies whose main purpose is to produce alcohol. Alcoholism and a lack of safe sober spaces for younger queers is already a huge problem in the queer community and the face that alcohol is going to have a huge presence at the parade is only making things worse
I’m not very good at writing things on the internet, but next time you tell me to just “enjoy” my pride parade, I am going to scream at you until your face melts off and bleeds for all eternity.
PS: if any of y’all rad, more informed people want to add to this, feel free. I’m not the most fact heavy person and I’d love some help putting some more information together
this is an article about an action that took place during the baltimore pride parade.
and these are some of the facts about the corporate sponsors this year that were passed around.

Miller Lite Wants You to Stop Being a Sissy
After receiving a GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) award nomination last year, Miller Lite released a pair of commercials in which the actor is told to “man up”, “take off his skirt,” and “put down his purse.” (Source: http://queersunited.blogspot.com/2010/05/miller-lite-ad-invokes-straight…)
Constellation Energy Doesn’t Care About Marylanders or Maryland Jobs
While Constellation Energy’s CEO Mayo A. Shattuck III earned $15.7 million in 2010, BGE customers in Maryland have seen the nation’s highest increase in electricity costs since 2000. Additionally, if Constellation Energy’s sale to Exelon goes through, Maryland could lose thousands of jobs. (Source: goodjobsbetterbaltimore.org)
